The IFWTWA Board of Directors welcomes new writer member Anne Banas of Somerville, Massachusetts. Anne been a travel editor since May 2000, editing and planning consumer-related travel advice, launching guides, and building online communities. Through her column, Escapes Under $500, and countless ”how-to” articles, destination guides, and travel tips, she always keep the budget conscious consumer in mind. When it comes to travel and lifestyle, she is most passionate about local cuisine and culture, as well as sustainability, and she especially enjoys traveling to Europe, the U.K., the Caribbean, Latin America, and even her own backyard. When she’s not at the office, she’s usually visiting local farms, cooking, canning, or gardening.
The Board invites you to get to know Anne better through her article, Infuse Your Visit to Portland with a Tea Tour where she explains, “Portland, Oregon, and its surrounding area is increasingly becoming the land of curious liquids made by careful artisan producers. Most visitors come in search of famous pinot noirs from the Willamette Valley, though many are also drawn to other drinkable assets, like craft beer, coffee, even sake. But few know the city is perhaps America’s most distinguished place for a spot of tea.”
