Marisa D’Vari “Let’s make wine fun and approachable!” says Marisa D’Vari, globe-trotting international wine and travel writer. “Every wine region, every producer, and even every grape has its own unique story.” D’Vari is based in Manhattan, yet she is constantly on the road, usually remote wine regions in France, Italy, Spain, or Portugal. However, she can sometimes be found battling baboons in the vineyards of S. Africa or trying to find Dracula’s castle in Transylvania. She has written for dozens of international publications, including Financial Times, World of Fine Wine, the San Francisco Chronicle and others and is presently working on a book about wine and travel. D’Vari’s studies in the elite world of wine education include the WSET Diploma, Certified Sommelier Diploma from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Certified Wine Educator designation from the Society of Wine Educators (currently held by less than 400 people in the world), Diplomas in both Viticulture and Viticulture, as well as Blind Tasting, from the American Sommelier Association, and a diploma from the Sommelier Society of America. She attended the French Culinary Institute , Bordeaux Agro University, and received the DUGGAT diploma from the University of Reims (a program created by Remy Krug) as well as the “Fine and Rare” specialist Diploma from Weinakademie Osterreich. Originally an entertainment executive in Los Angeles, D’Vari started her journey into the world of food, wine, and travel when she created the TV show A Taste of Luxury in Boston, featuring celebrity chefs and winemakers around the world. Including Julia Child and Robert Mondavi.
