Dec 2014

Susan Newman Manfull, PhD, took a circuitous path to writing about wine, travel, and food. She spent her professional life as a researcher, professor, and consultant in social psychology and stress management until she and her family flew the coop for a sojourn in Provence.

Upon return, she dove into wine, travel, and food writing with booklets on tasting wine and a blog on “all things Provence” called The Modern Trobadors and, later, one called Provence WineZine which is devoted to Provence wine, especially rosé; the stories of the men and women who make the wine; and the history of the châteaux where the wine is made.

Susan is the recipient of the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) 2014 Excellence Award in the Emerging Writer Category and a member of IFWTWA, The New Hampshire Writers' Project, and the American Psychological Association.

Susan's blog Provence WineZine was awarded Wine Bloggers' Best Wine Blog in a Single Subject for 2016.

Susan is a recipient of a Fellowship Award for the 2017 Symposium for Professional Wine Writers.

She lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire with her family and travels frequently to France.
