Teresa Bitler weaves culture, food, and drink into her travel articles. She's shared a meal with a Hopi family in Northern Arizona (followed by cupcakes and Kool-Aid with a 90-year-old medicine man), toured a naturally growing cacao farm in the Belize jungles, and attended Grape Camp in Sonoma. One of her favorite experiences was attending a Sunrise Ceremony, a rite of passage ceremony for Apache girls. The resulting article won a SATW Gold Medal (Western Chapter).
Her work has appeared in National Geographic Traveler, American Airlines, AAA Highroads, Sunset, Wine Enthusiast, Family Fun, Country's Best Cabins, Valley Guide, Su Casa, and several local magazines. Online, she has written for Sherman's Travel, Home & Away, Visit Phoenix, Jetsetter, Away.com, and Complex.com, to name a few.
Teresa has also authored two travel guides, co-authored another, and contributed to several travel apps.
For her, travel is about pushing yourself to explore new things and meet people you normally don't come across in your day-to-day life, whether its a Hopi medicine man or the resident artist at an upscale hotel; travel writing is about telling their stories and inspiring readers to experience their part of the world.
