Todd Montgomery, Ph.D.

Member Since:
Oct 2013

Todd Montgomery has been photographing, writing, and teaching about the world around him for more than 50 years. His photographic art portrays life "in the moment" and can also be thematic as in touring the art and architecture scene in Hong Kong or climbing and photographing Mt. Makalu in Nepal for the Milwaukee Public Museum. The Gallery Director at Agora Gallery in Soho, New York City, where Todd has exhibited, said, “Montgomery’s...full life and deep insights are as evident as the composed line and shadow that he so delicately uses to make his pictures.” Shortly after the tragedy of 9/11, Todd and Susan Montgomery published: “What Really Matters Now” (Peter Pauper Press, 2001), a best-selling (35,000 copies) inspirational book of his black and white photography and her writing to correspond with the photos. He also provided photographs and research for the artist biographies: “In the Moment: The Life of Schomer Lichtner” and “In Celebration: The Life and Art of Ruth Grotenrath,” published by the Museum of Wisconsin Art and University of Wisconsin Press, 2011. Moving from Wisconsin to Southern California, Todd has focused on projects in the California wine country and travel destinations from the West Coast. His photographs are published with his wife’s culinary, wine and travel articles in their online magazine: Life-uncorked.com, as well as numerous other online and print periodicals. He is a Contributing Photographer at the Temecula Valley Business Journal, and has contributed photographs from his portfolios posted on UrbanMilwaukee.com, focusing on scenes of Milwaukee urban life, 1968-2013.
