About Us

Welcome to IFWTWA Australasia. Or should we day G’day. We’re a division of the International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association covering Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. We’re a group of professional writers who cover the food, wine, travel and business events (MICE) industries, plus associate members performing public relations and marketing functions for the travel, hospitality, meetings, incentive and destinations market across the region.

IFWTWA Australasia members and associates enjoy a significant range of global benefits plus some specific arrangements negotiated for Australasian members, including discount travel insurance, access to industry rates on airfares and hotels, access to the TravMedia information portal, regional media trips, networking opportunities, professional development seminars plus an annual conference. The list of local benefits is growing and plans are afoot for a substantial range of member only features including professional development and common interest activities.

Official Launch

IFWTWA Australia was officially launched by IFWTWA President Maralyn Hill at AIME 2011, the Australasian Incentive and Meetings Expo in Melbourne on Wednesday February 16, 2011 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre with a post launch party at Crown Metropol. Our Inaugural General Meeting was held on Thursday February 17 at Atlantic Group [v].

Also launched at AIME was a major special interest group within IFWTWA Australia, known as Media for Business Events (MBE) representing print, broadcast and online media plus associates from the meetings, incentive, conferencing and events sector (also known as the MICE or Business Events sector). How to Join

We’re a growing global organisation with international reach but with a distinct local perspective and we welcome new membership applications. If you’re an active, published journalist, editor or broadcaster in the food/wine, travel, hospitality or meetings industry or a member of recognised professional association, you may automatically qualify.
